U-PICK RASPBERRY FARMS
Raspberries generally are in season during the month of July here in the Finger Lakes, however some u-pick farms have both strawberries and raspberries ready this week (6/21). The following farms are listed in our "2012 Guide to Local Foods" as sources for locally-grown strawberries! Call to confirm crop availability.

Can you post information about whether these crops are organic or not? I am interested in knowing these details, thanks!
ReplyDeleteGood question! I don't know the farming practices of all the farms around, so I recommend asking the farmers themselves. I know that Kestrel Perch is organic and offers "PAYG" (pay as you go u-pick) in addition to their u-pick CSA, but the dry weather means that the season there is over this year (for more info in the future: http://www.ithacaberries.com/). Others, like Silver Queen, I think, might use fertilizer and some early spraying but none on the berries themselves. Someday I'll be able to provide more comprehensive info, but not this season. Thanks for reading!
