Announcement:

You’re invited!
Germination Celebration
Benefit Show for Groundswell and Gardens 4 Humanity
@ CASTAWAYS 416 Taughannock Blvd., Ithaca, NY 14850
7 pm - 1 am

Ithaca, NY –  On Saturday May 7th, Castaways will be graciously hosting The Germination Celebration, a benefit show for the Groundswell Center for Local Food & Farming and Gardens 4 Humanity. The event will feature live music until 1am, a “Local-Lovers Raffle”, and sweet treats from regional gem Funk ‘n Waffles.
Celebrate spring while contributing to a more sustainable food system in our community! As the sun sets, come dance to the sounds of some of Ithaca’s greatest local talent: Mbusi, an acoustic set by the GunPoets, and Money Mars, the City of Ithaca’s Best Artist of 2010! The Local-Lovers Raffle will be running throughout the evening, with great local prizes ranging from recording time at REP Studio, to an hour long massage with Healing Hands, to an installation of a raised bed full of heirloom tomatoes and peppers at your home. The Local-vore Package, the centerpiece of the raffle, is stuffed with gift certificates from great locally-focused restaurants, including Bandwagon Brew Pub, Just A Taste, and The Piggery. Later, soak up some late night goodness from legendary snack masters, Funk n’ Waffles.
Funds raised from the show will go to support Gardens 4 Humanity and Groundswell in creating a more innovative, secure, and just food system. Donations raised for the Groundswell Center will go to developing the site infrastructure for the Farm Enterprise Incubator, a low-cost pathway for landless gardeners and farmers to run their own food venture.
Together, Groundswell and G4H are enhancing economic security and food sovereignty right here in Ithaca, across the state, and the nation. With Groundswell creating pathways for aspiring farmers and Gardens 4 Humanity supporting the creation of community gardens, our partnership is developing the foundation for a diverse agricultural community that can provide for all community members.
Come plant the seeds of Ithaca’s food future. Join us at Castaways on Saturday!
