Announcement: CCE Tioga offers class in pastured poultry

Announcement from Cornell Cooperative Extension Tioga County:

Class:  ABC’s of Pastured Poultry
Thursday, July 15, 6:30-8:30 pm
Heritage Pastures Farm, 2343 Stanton Hill Rd, Nichols (10 minutes south of Owego)
Learn how to raise poultry on pasture.  Whether you’re just exploring
options for using your land or you are already raising poultry, this
workshop is for you.  Topics to be covered:

  • Poultry on pasture as part of a diversified farm with cows and pigs
  • Using heritage breeds as layers and Thanksgiving Turkeys
  • Purchasing chicks & delivery
  • Incubation, hatching and brooding our own chicks
  • Broiler & Turkey Shelters, including the new Eggmobile!
  • Fencing & Pasture Rotation
  • Feeders & Waterers
  • View small scale processing station
