Free seeds from Cooperative Extension

A press release from the Tompkins County Cornell Cooperative Extension:

FREE SEEDS AVAILABLE AT THE TOMPKINS COUNTY COOPERATIVE EXTENSION SEED CABINET!

The Seed Cabinet at Tompkins County Cornell Cooperative Extension has received many generous donations from seed purveyors including Ithaca Agway, Seed Savers Exchange, FEDCO, Harris Seeds, Thompson & Morgan, Park Seed, Renee's Garden, Heirloom Seeds, and Johnny's Seeds. There is one cabinet for flowers, and one for vegetables and herbs. This year, we have a special abundance of bean, lettuce, zinnia, and morning glory seeds.

The Seed Cabinet works like this: everyone is welcome to come and take some seeds for free (please observe a limit of 10 packets per visit); everyone is ALSO welcome to contribute accurately identified
and dated seed (date of seed collection) to the Seed Cabinet for others to share. We have little envelopes here, or you can use your own envelopes, but be sure to put the year of seed collection on the envelope, as well as the name of the plant.

The Seed Cabinets are located in the Agriculture/Environment office at Tompkins County Cornell Cooperative Extension so they are mostly accessible 8:30-4:30, Monday-Friday. Our offices are located at 615 Willow Avenue in Ithaca (take the Dey Street exit from Route 13 N, then right again on Willow Avenue.). Call 272-2292 for more information. (NOTE: we will be closed on Monday February 15.)
