How much do we spend on groceries?

Turns out that Americans spend billions more on their cars than they do on their groceries.

In July 2009, grocery sales totaled about $43 billion, whereas motor vehicle and parts came in at over $58 billion.

Oh wait, we also spent almost $30 billion at gas stations.

Perhaps these numbers shouldn't be a surprise, but it seems like our bodies deserve more than our cars.
