Party: Meat Locker Launch

Announcement:

ITHACA MEAT LOCKER LAUNCH PARTY

Local foods enthusiasts are invited to celebrate the grand opening of the new Ithaca Meat Locker later this month at a Launch Party from 5:00-7:00pm on Wednesday, February 19 at Felicia's Atomic Lounge, 508 West State Street in Ithaca. The event will feature locally raised meat from The Piggery, High Point Farms, Birdsall Farm and Spot Hollow Farm. Guests can enjoy complimentary hors d'oeuvres prepared by Serendipity Catering, and a cash bar. Admission is free and no RSVP is needed.

The Launch Party also will kick off a new online crowdfunding campaign with the goal of raising the remaining $6500 needed to fund the creation of a second Meat Locker site, in Corning, NY. Visit igg.me/at/flxmeatproject to learn more about these plans, and to see the donated prizes that will recognize your contribution. The public is asked to consider sharing this crowdfunding page with friends, family, and social media networks.

The Ithaca Meat Locker is expected to open to the public later in February, once the local permitting process is complete. Located at 116 West Green Street in the basement of the Ithaca Journal building, the Ithaca Meat Locker will be accessible from Pressbay Alley. More than 70 units will be available in this large, walk-in freezer for consumers to rent to store bulk meat. Units range in price from $3/month for small bins (that hold 18 gallons) to $5/month for large bins, able to hold 25 gallons or a quarter of a beef steer. To sign up for freezer space in the Ithaca Meat Locker, visit http://www.fingerlakesmeatproject.com . A representative from the Finger Lakes Meat Project will then contact you to finalize your membership. To learn more, visit: http://www.fingerlakesmeatproject.com/ or contact Matt LeRoux at (607) 272-2292 ext. 195 or mnl28@cornell.edu
