Sustainable turkey carcass, and potato peels, corn husks . . .

Announcement:

Don't landfill the scraps from your holiday feast. Compost them at the Tompkins County Recycling and Solid Waste Center (yes, even the meat!). You can bring up to 10 gallons of scraps each day. All food scraps and food related paper goods are acceptable, including:

· Bread, Grains, & Beans

· Meat, Fish, & Bones (including that turkey carcass!)

· Eggs & Dairy

· Fruits & Vegetables

· Compostable Disposables

· Paper Napkins & Cups

If you go during office hours they will even give you a FREE countertop food scrap caddy, liner bags, and a 5 gallon bucket with a gamma lid (easy open, tight seal).

Please let your friends and neighbors know about this great program – the more we spread the word, the more food waste we can keep out of a landfill.

Of course, if you prefer to compost at home, we have lots of information available at http://ccetompkins.org/garden/composting

Happy Thanksgiving & Happy Composting
