How to Buy Local Meats

With all the excitement about local foods in our area, people are inquiring about local meats.  Many consumers are confused by claims like "grass-fed," "natural," and "organic" and are unfamiliar with many cuts of meat and how they're used. This FREE class will include an overview of the claims and terms used in meat marketing, an introduction to some livestock farmers who raise local meats, and information about the new CCE online database, the 'Meat Suite' (http://meatsuite.com/) which connects consumers with area livestock producers.   The class is FREE but please call (607) 272-2292 to sign up so we can make enough handouts.
