The Food Bank of the Southern Tier is currently participating in a social media competition that puts them in the running for $45,000 for their BackPack Program -- the program that sends kids in need home with food for the weekend. Elizabeth Herendeen, Youth Programs Coordinator, says that the money would help us expand BackPack to all 41 school districts in the Southern Tier plus set up some fresh fruit/veggie pilot projects around the region, distributing local New York fruits and veggies to children in need.
To win the $45,000 they need to generate as many votes as possible through Facebook. Here's a link to the voting page: http://bit.ly/FoodBankST
The deadline is April 30.
