Local kiwis?

It's true.  Kiwis can grow here in Central New York.  The little-known Hardy Kiwi is a cousin of the more common grocery store variety.  The plant is a vine native to northeastern Asia that can withstand our winters.  The fruit tastes like an extra juicy kiwi and is about the size of a cherry tomato.

Hardy Kiwis aren't commercially viable because they have such a short shelf life, so aside from a few quarts for sale recently at Cornell Orchards, the only way to get them here is to grow them yourself (please correct me if I'm wrong).
