People share food, goods, and camaraderie at Share Tompkins Events

Last Saturday, about 60 people attended a Share Tompkins Swap Meet at a warehouse near the Ithaca Farmers Market to barter, chat, and listen to live music.

Basil, organic squash, homemade corn salsa, vegan cooking lessons, and cookbooks were just a few of the items and services available for trade.  Local organizations were on-hand to describe their activities, includingIthaCan (represented by yours truly), TC LocalIthaca Health Alliance, andFinger Lakes Reuse.

Share Tompkins was started several months ago and now hosts monthly swap meets where anyone can trade goods, skills, or services.
