Ithaca's very own "Iron Chef" event this Saturday on the Commons at 1:30

Three chefs from Ithaca restaurants will compete in an hour-long cook-off featuring mystery ingredients at Apple Fest on Saturday.  The competition, sponsored by the Downtown Ithaca Alliance, will take place on the Commons at 1:30.

Chefs from the Boatyard Grill, Simeon’s on the Commons, and Cornell Dining will be the three contestants in the Iron Chef Competition, which is based on the Food Network TV show.  The mystery ingredients, all from the Finger Lakes, will not be revealed to the chefs or the public until the competition begins.

Entrees will be judged on presentation, originality in the use of ingredients, and taste. This year's judges are Michael Welch of Edible Finger Lakes Magazine, Elizabeth Karabinakis of Cornell Cooperative Extension, and Debbie Hoover of the Tompkins Trust Company. The winner will be crowned "Iron Chef."
