Sustainability Tour Today

Today, a bus full of people will tour the Ithaca area in search of sustainability highlights.  Stops include Eco-Village, Mother Earth Plants, Warren Pond Farm, and the Trumansburg Farmers Market.  Green roofs, off-the-grid-electricity,  biodiesel, and more will be some of the topics  of discussion.  Elan Shapiro will lead the 5-hour tour, which is offered for $75 by Experience! The Finger Lakes.

The tour debuted this year, according to Laura Falk, of Experience! The Finger Lakes.  “The tour was the brain-child of Jill Swenson of On Warren Pond Farm,” she says.  “And Elan Shapiro is a leader in the community  on sustainability and green living in Tompkins County.  From the moment the guests meet Elan at the start of the tour at the Ithaca Children's Garden, they are guided through the process of understanding how sustainable living is a concept that one chooses to live, by understanding the benefits at an integrated social, financial, environmental and personal level.”

In August and October, the company will offer food and wine tours.
