Is the internet changing our food system?

As I read this article in Wired Magazine about how the internet is changing our food system, I considered how the internet is used in our food system right here in Ithaca and the rest of Tompkins County.

Here's what I came up with off the top of my head:
People can now order local food online for delivered to their doorstep, thanks to Garden Gate.
A group at Cornell is mapping our foodshed.
Lots of farms, CSAs, and local food groups have listserves and websites.
Lots of farms have blogs, but report having difficulty keeping them up to date.

Even after reading the article in Wired, I'm not convinced that the internet changes much.  A physical, perishable product still needs to be transported from farm to consumer.  Am I missing something?
