Senator Gillibrand Visits Cornell

At a round-table discussion at Cornell on Tuesday, NYS Senator Kirsten Gillibrand stated that agribusiness is a promising area for growth in New York and that food production should be safe, according to yesterday's Ithaca Journal.

I tried calling Senator Gillibrand's Syracuse office today to find out if she's working on anything specific related to those comments, but no one answered.

Her website states: "New York is blessed with fertile soils to support cellulosic biofuel feedstocks, organic agriculture, and the raw materials for value-added products such as compostable plant-based plastics and bio-based materials. "

The site also says that she's on the US Senate Committee on Agriculture, Nutrition and Forestry Committee so that she can "help New York farmers thrive and ensuring food security for all New York citizens."

Stay tuned for an update...
