Food Advocates Write Letters

On April 7, 2009, a handful of food advocates gathered at Loaves and Fishes of Tompkins County to write letters urging government officials to improve food access to low-income communities. The event was a follow-up to the World Crisis Food Event.

Here's what Megan Gregory, Cornell graduate student and an organizer of the event, had to say about the event:
"Several Loaves and Fishes guests and advocates came together with World Food Crisis Solutions participants to write letters to New York Senators and Representatives regarding climate legislation. Recognizing that climate change presents a threat to agriculture and food security, they called for swift reduction of greenhouse gas emissions, as well as assistance for low-income communities in the U.S. and around the world to adapt to the effects of climate change."

Loaves and Fishes is a Christian ministry which provides a place for free meals, hospitality, companionship, and advocacy for those in need, regardless of their faith, beliefs, or circumstances.
