I'm curious if someone can tell what that is in the Front Door photo. Is that a bee construction, or has someone been messing with the hive?

http://www.flickr.com/photos/7465546@N05/sets/72157622661208806/The Erudite Ogrehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15073042316337498298noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7514935000523006114.post-43208340852007368042009-10-22T19:16:52.978-04:002009-10-22T19:16:52.978-04:00Haven't got a photo handy, but I can take some...Haven't got a photo handy, but I can take some! Yesterday they were extremely active: the largest knot in the center of the trunk has a sort of launch pad (the hive has at least three, maybe four entrances), and they were zooming back and forth from it. If I can get a few pics in morning I'll put them on my Flickr and post a link. The Erudite Ogrehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15073042316337498298noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7514935000523006114.post-59569244128286547502009-10-22T10:28:24.153-04:002009-10-22T10:28:24.153-04:00Really? I am happy that we are the unofficial guardians of the largest, possibly only, wild beehive in Groton (in a big tree in our front yard, that is sadly dying). I wish they could be relocated to somewhere more secure; the town has tried to remove the tree more than once. The Erudite Ogrehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15073042316337498298noreply@blogger.com
